Who Is The Davidson Company

In 1974, David and Eva Rowe purchased a small business in North Haven, CT from Robert Davidson that consisted of five employees and had a geographical territory of 10 sqaure miles.  The customer base was Stop & Shop, Waldbaums, A & P, and a great number of independent retailers.  Over the years, the company acquired other distributors that enlarged its territory to include the entire state of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.  Up until 1982, the company's main product lines were mayonnaise, pickles, relish and cheese.  That, however, all quickly changed when Stop & Shop had the foresight of integrating specialty foods abd selected the Davidson Company as their primary distributor for these products.  The company now stocks some 3,000 items and has over 100 loyal and dedicated employees carrying out the day to day operation of the business.  The company presently serves Stop & Shop, Big Y Foods, Shaw's, Price Chopper and over one hundred independents.  In January 2007 we have expanded our territory to include the rest of Massachusetts and portios of Maine and New Hampshire.  This expansion will boost our employment level to nearly 170 and our fleet to include 20 straight trucks and 4 tractor trailers.  In May of 2008, David Rowe passed away and the company is currently being managed by his Five Son's and several grandchildren.
