Our Historyhistory at Davidson

The Davidson Company Inc. started out in a 3,000 square foot converted gas station as the E. Robert Davidson Company, servicing New Haven, Connecticut and surrounding areas. David and Eva Rowe bought the company in 1974, fueled by a passion to build relationships with local food service companies and provide high-quality goods with high-quality service in mind.

Today, Davidson lives by these same values. As a testament to the winning spirit of our founders, we have become the largest Specialty Foods distributor in New England, carrying over 6,000 Specialty, Kosher, and Ethnic items at our facility in Newington, Connecticut. Thanks to our customers, we continue to experience steady growth. We have over 350 dedicated employees and deliver our products throughout New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, and Delaware.

In 2016, Davidson Specialty Foods became a wholly owned subsidiary of C&S Wholesale Grocers, the nation’s leading grocery supplier and a company that shares Davidson’s commitment to customer service. Davidson has continued to operate as an independent organization while also partnering with C&S and leveraging the grocer’s resources for significant growth opportunities.

At Davidson, we are thankful for our past and excited for the opportunities that lie ahead. We hope to share our long history of providing quality products and service with you.
